We are compiling the best Android apps that will help you make the most out of your photos. The cameras on Android devices are getting better and better. Gone are the days when all you could produce from your phone were grainy, poor quality and blurred images. It’s got to the point now that the camera on your phone is arguably leaving compact cameras obsolete. After all, your smartphone is always with you and therefore so is your camera. It’s compact and allows for almost instant upload to social networking sites e.g. Facebook.

Instagram
Instagram allows you to take photos (which are then cropped into a square) and add one of 19 filters, all of which have a classic retro feel. All the filters are bold and there’s no control over the strength, which makes Instagram simple to use. The app also has a social-networking element: when you’ve created an image it is posted to your profile where others can view, like and comment on it.

VSCO Cam
Popular among many Instagram users, VSCO Cam can be used in conjunction with the aforementioned app, but allows for much greater freedom in editing.
Although this app only provides 10 filters, you are able to choose how strong or subtle you want the effect using a slider. You also have control over aspects such as saturation, sharpness and whether you want a colored tint. VSCO Cam doesn’t include a social-networking aspect, so if you want to share the images you’ve created with friends you must either send it to Instagram or post it elsewhere.

Cartoon Camera
Cartoon Camera lets you make your photos appear as different styles of drawings, such as ‘cartoon’ and ‘color drawing’. It can’t be used to edit existing photos, though. Instead, you get a live view when taking an image, which makes it easier to compose your shot and choose your effect before you take the photo. There’s no way to share images from the app, it saves these directly to your device, so you can share the images from the picture gallery.

Picsay PRO
Picsay PRO is super lightweight photo editor made for low end devices. You can apply over 400 stickers to any photo; make lots of changes in visuals by using preloaded options. You can also add images to other photo. Though its just 1.5 MB app, it has lots of theming options to offer. This my phone’s default photo editor for more than one year.

Few days ago I shared Snaseed and VSCO cam which are good photo editor and camera app respectively. Today I'll share my view on light weight application Picsay pro.

This app is bright, colourful and fun, and it walks the line between childish and charming, coming out just perfect for getting good results with your photos. On the straight-up editing side, it offers the basic functions you would expect from an editing package such as sharpen, redeye, crop and straighten. Moving on from these functions, you can add and edit text and apply effects from Lomo and Tilt-shift to pencil sketches, among others. The cutting-out function works particularly well, and you can take pieces of one image and add them to another. The result is really natural and seamless, and it requires very little eff ort. The stickers make for particularly amusing results. A series of transferable cartoon objects such as hats and moustaches can be applied to your images; this is really great for making your own photographs to send to friends and family for birthdays and special occasions. Rather than looking kitsch and homemade, these images really come into their own and prove very addictive to play around with.

Most functions are fairly easy to figure out except for the tilt/resize. It will take a bit of practice to get your desired result, but once you get a feel for how this works it's quite simple to replicate on additional images. The tilt/resize function gives a really interesting effect, and it's worth taking the time to get the application of this effect right. You'll need to remember to export your images after you're done tweaking them. The app will keep the last image you've worked on open until you select a new one, but your editing will be lost if you don't remember that all-important export. The feel of the app is fun and cheeky, but don't discount it for performing minor editing for serious projects, such as work-related images. While it does have a more than adequate variety of modes and options, paintbrush tool is great for manual editing.

Experiment with effects.
There are plenty of effects all presented in this carousel of options, which you can scroll through left and right. Tapping on an option gives you the ability to alter the photograph by sliding your finger until you are satisfied that you have the perfect final result. You can then go back to the home page.

Get editing in seconds.
Opening a photograph is the simplest process of them all in Snapseed. The ability to do this is presented at the top of the screen and only needs a tap before you are asked if you wish to take or choose a photo. Make your choice and within seconds you have an image ready to start manipulating.

Do compare your editing
The Compare option lets you see the original photograph so that you can contrast it with the one that you have manipulated in the Snapseed app. The photograph appears in the main window of the home screen and from here you can go on to add many more effects

Easy to use
If you make a mistake, hit the Revert button to go back to the original artwork. There are other options here too. Tap the menu in the top-right corner, and as well as allowing you to share and find online help, you can also show the instructional overlay which lets you work out what does what.
