Today I will share 10 photos taken in Australia with a Portuguese flavour on it. For a born Portuguese these are photos that are meant to kill the saudade from home!

A chicken fast-food chain.

Portuguese wrap at Coles supermarket.

7. Oporto

Another fast-food chain serving... chicken!

6. Sweet Belem

For me this is the best pastry store in Sydney

5. Silvas

They serve the best charcoal chicken in Sydney but their service could be so much better...

4. Train

Another Emirates ad. After a day's work I can not think of a best train to bring me home.

3. Nando's

It is between a restaurant-chain and a fast-food chain, but of course... they serve chicken.

2. Petersham

The Portuguese neighbourhood in Sydney. Every year there is the Petersham/Portuguese festival.

Not a photo of Sydney or Australia but of my origins.

Final comments
It is interesting to see that a lot of this photos relate to food and more particularly to... chicken. If any Australian visits Portugal I think he/she will be surprised to realise that we do not tend to eat that much chicken. :-)

Top 10 Funny Aussie Photos

Nº10 - Michael is the best

Some days before this graffiti was made Michael, the building manager of our building, sent a letter to all residents informing that some residents were making too much rubish...

Nº9 - Eating out in Australia

Australia has many Asian emigrants and due to that reason there are many Asian restaurants. The problem? Well... sometimes it is difficult to understand the menu!

Nº8 - Sydney Mardi Grass

The Sydney Mardi Gras is an annual LGBT pride parade and festival in Sydney, Australia, attended by hundreds of thousands of people from around Australia and overseas. The sticker above was given to "selected" people, the ones that were too hot 2 handel!

Nº5 - Bear Grylls who?

The sticker above was in an Aussie truck. In Australia going-out camping can be a risk (there are many venomous and dangerous animals), so most of the Aussie campers are as capable to endure in the wild as Bear Grylls (without a safety team around...).

This notice was at a store window. The image is from Chris Hemsworth a famous Australian actor that portrayed Thor in the latest Marvel franchises.

Urban Agriculture - Part IV (update)

Today we will have a look into our little balcony in Sydney CBD to see the progress of our veggies and plants.

What we decided to harvest today:

One capsicum;
A lot of chillies
A bit of mint

Not bad for a small balcony, not bad!

The mint is growing very well, it gets some light but it loves a bit of shade as well and it does not require a lot of water. From tea, drink additive, to fragrance you can use for your house, this is a perfect plant to have.

We decided to plant more coriander seeds since we realise that we are addicted to it and we use it in a lot of our dishes. The chives themselves look fine, we mainly use for soups an Asian dishes.

We've been eating a lot of lettuce as you can see in the picture below. "Perpetual" lettuce is great since you can keep on taking just a couple of leaves at a time, so it will last longer!

We also have some oregano and some other small lettuces in another pot, but this was starting to be used by pigeons as a nest so we had to put some wooden skewers to keep them away.

This was a small update. "O Mundo de Mikey" is trying to show and educate you that growing your own edibles is possible, even in constrained places as a small balcony in the middle of a big city. Yes it is possible, give it a try!
